This includes reviewing key concepts, teaching exam techniques, and providing practice papers to help students feel more confident and prepared for their exams. For students who just require the exam preparation tuition we can provide this along with mentoring and coaching services where this is deemed more suitable than acadmic tuition. Your Questions... Answered. Do you provide 1:1 or Group Tuition? Most of our tuition is 1:1 although from time to time places do become available in our groups or we may create new groups periodically throughout the year. Please let us know if you are looking for group tuition and we will keep you informed of new enrolment dates and waiting list times. Our group tuition is focused on Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 in English, Maths and Science. Students will still be assessed to ascertain their suitability for a group; groups are not created on the age of the child but the level at which they are working at to ensure the most suitable provision.

We carry out an initial assessment meeting which helps us understand your child individual needs and match the right support for them. Your Questions... Answered. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy? We understand that unexpected events can occur. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, we request that you provide at least 24 hours notice. We'll then work with you to reschedule the session at a convenient time. With planned absence such as holidays or events, the more notice provided is better to enable us to reschedule a time around other students and at your convenience. Last minute cancellations or 'no shows' will be charged at the normal rate.

Your Questions... Answered. Can parents communicate directly with the tutors? Absolutely! Once your tutor has been assigned, they will be your main contact. We encourage open communication between parents and tutors as this not only builds strong positive relationships which are good for your child's progress, but also helps ensure that everyone is on the same page about the student's goals, progress, and any areas of concern.

Your Questions... Answered. How are sessions delivered? Most tutoring sessions are conducted online using a secure, interactive platform that enables real-time communication between the tutor and student. It's as close as you can get to a face-to-face session, providing the convenience of learning from home without sacrificing the quality of interaction. With the additional use of interactive whiteboards and collaborative documents and tools, students get the best of both worlds having everything organised and available online whilst having the personalised 1:1 time with the tutor. If agreed by both parties, lessons or parts of lessons can also be recorded and stored on your personal portal for reference. This is sometimes useful or revision purposes. For some students we know face to face tuition is a preferred option. A tutor will plan the lesson and create the resources to deliver in person either in a students home or agreed local community setting such as a Hwb. All lessons, regardless of whether online or face to face will have been planned specifically for your child based on their needs and progress. For any student under the age of 18 it is a requirement in line with our Safeguarding Policy that an adult be present on the premises throughout the lesson. This is applicable for online lessons also. How often are tutoring sessions and how long do they last? The frequency and duration of tutoring sessions can be tailored according to the student's needs. However, a typical schedule is one or two sessions per week, each lasting for 1 hour. For A Level and Degree students it is common to book longer sessions as more complex content is being explored. In the run up to exams it is also common to book additional sessions to work on exam technique as well as content. We aim to be as flexible as possible and will accommodate this into our tutors timetables wherever we can.

Professional Academic Profiling Assessments The Academic Profiling Test (APT) is widely used by independent schools and educational consultants as part of our admissions systems and advisory services. This test has been created to provide a comprehensive assessment of a student’s academic skills across 4 areas: English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. It is a collaboration between experts in assessment, former headmasters and educationalists, using the highest quality teacher-written test questions and adaptive technology. The APT can be used to demonstrate performance to future schools or monitor academic progress, or even as practice for other reasoning-type tests such as UKiset, ISEB Pretest or 11+ entrance exams. The APT is an online assessment which is followed by a 30-minute feedback session with a qualified member of the team to interpret and explain results and discuss next steps; whether this be admission to a particular school or college, additional tuition in areas highlighted as needing development, or alternative programs and provision. This assessment analyses and reports on over 40 sub-categories, saving you both time and money exploring where your child's gaps in learning are, hence why many parents choose to begin their journey with us by investing in it. FOCUS measures several aspects (called constructs) that influence Attentional Control. These constructs are Consistency, Performance, Impuls i vity, and Distractions (audio and visual). It is an objective tool to measure concentration scientifically. Consistency Consistency is the measurement of the quality of reacting or performing in a similar way in terms of accuracy and responsiveness when having to execute boring, mundane or repetitive tasks. Consistent behaviour results in achieving a level of performance which does not vary greatly in quality over time. Inconsistent behaviour results in a fluctuation of the quality execution of the task due to the individual having trouble maintaining his or her focus, especially when the task at hand is boring or repetitive. Performance Performance is the accomplishment of a given task measured against pre-set known standards of accuracy and speed, i.e. being attentive to completing the task accurately and on time. Overall performance of the individual is measured in terms of being accurate versus inaccurate and being on-time. Impulsivity Impulsivity (or being impulsive) involves a tendency to act suddenly and without careful thought, reflection or consideration of the consequences. Impulsive actions are typically poorly conceived, prematurely expressed, unduly risky, or inappropriate to the situation that often result in undesirable consequences. Impulsivity is both the tendency to respond prior to the evoking stimuli being presented (i.e. guessing which stimulus is presented) and the tendency to respond when he or she should not (i.e. incorrectly responding to the non-target). Distraction Distraction is the process of diverting the attention of the individual from the desired area of focus and thereby blocking or diminishing the reception of desired information. Visual distraction – determining the impact of visual changes in the environment on the individual’s performance. Auditory distraction – determining the impact of auditory changes in the environment on the individual’s performance.
